Children's Learning
OUR DAILY PROGRAMME
Our programme has a large focus on emotional and social maturity which supports children’s resilience in preparation for school and life. Our hands-on activities enhance their physical, social, emotional, spiritual, language, cognitive and creative areas of development.
The programme is planned each week, for both the two-day and three-day groups, based on staff observations of the children's readiness developmentally, information gained from parents, input from the children and the knowledge of our educators as to ‘what comes next’.
Our daily programme is flexible and planned to encourage the children to be active participants in a variety of learning experiences. Changes to the programme are made daily as the needs or interests of the children change.
Skills that we focus on include:
SOCIAL
Playing co-operatively, sharing, listening to others and following preschool rules.
EMOTIONAL
Learning to participate in group activities such as music, movement and drama performances or songs and stories and games.
LANGUAGE
Early literacy and language, including opportunities for drawing, writing names, listening to and telling stories.
COGNITIVE
Number recognition and counting, shape recognition, number concepts and patterns, puzzles and construction. Science and maths concepts are explored.
